New educational resources have been added to the campaign website. The book ‘Save Douky, the red-shanked douc‘ and the silvered langur activity book are now available for download. The Douky book was created (text, illustration and design) in 2008 as part of Camille N.Z. Coudrat’s research on primate conservation. The book intends to reach the new generation of South East Asian countries to raise their awareness about primate and wildlife conservation.
In 2011, the author received funding form Care for the Wild International to print 900 copies and distribute them in Laos (where Camille is conducting her PhD research). The english text was translated to Lao by Santi Saypanya (Education & Outreach Manager, WCS-Lao program) and illustrations of all the Lao primates were added to the book. The 900 copies were distributed in remote villages across Laos through several on-going projects from different organisations. This kind of conservation education material is extremely needed in Southeast Asian countries were kids generally do not have access to any books. More copies of the book as well as new marerials and activities are planned to be designed and produced in the near future to pursue the fun education about environmental issues in Laos.
Campaign participants can download the douky book and the silvered langur activity book on the campaign website, in the educational resources section.
